Choosing Your Next Vacation Destination
If you're anything like me, you have a list a mile long for where you want to go on your next vacation. Because you're probably not like me, you don't have folders full of information you've collected on those places so you can be prepared by the time you actually plan a vacation to said place.
So how do you pick where you want to go? For me, like I've mentioned in other posts, food tends to be a big motivator. But honestly, other than food, a big motivator for me is going to a place that most people aren't thinking about going to. Case in point, over the last few years I've gone to Tasmania (Australia), done the opposite of what you're "supposed to do" in New Zealand (more on that in a future post), Puglia (Italy) and the Basque Region in Spain. I just went to Milan and purposely did not go to Lake Como, but to Lake Iseo, Como's much quieter and smaller sister (cousin?). The #1 location I'm DYING to go to is the Faroe Islands.
That doesn't mean I don't want to go to places everyone wants to go to, hello, I would go to Rome any time, any day, just let me know when you're going and I'm there.
That all being said, while the time of year can certainly help dictate if a location is the right fit (probably don't want to go to Bora Bora in early November aka hurricane season on your honeymoon - for another time), don't let it totally dictate what you do or where you want to go. Just be realistic about what all you're going to be able to do if weather is going to be a factor.
Sometimes the location can pick you. If you find a cheap flight or happen to get invited to a destination wedding, take advantage of it!
The world is your oyster, grab some sparkly and dive in!
